http://www.charlestonbusiness.com/dailyjournal/3_262/full-issue.html#13101

"Both the Wildcat tract and Parks of Berkeley are located in a fast-growing region of the county that is slated for a host of new residential and commercial developments in the next 20 years. Other planned development includes Carnes Crossroads, an I’On Group development, and Cane Bay.

These developments surround the new Cane Bay High School and are blueprinted to add some 35,000 housing units over the next several decades. Additionally, Roper St. Francis is planning a new 50-bed hospital in the Carnes Crossroads community near Goose Creek, and Trident Health Systems is planning a new 50-bed hospital not far away in Moncks Corner. Amenity Center

***Update on amenity center: As soon as landscaping is complete we will be able to fill the pool!!

Playground is complete and being used daily!

As our environment is not something to be taken advantage of, Centex makes a conscience effort to be earth friendly. With this, Centex is proud to furnish our amenity centers with gravel parking lots. Gravel parking lots are much more environmentally friendly than paved lots. Among other things, they minimize the amount of impervious surface (a solid surface that does not allow water filer run through) which reduces the amount of stormwater runoff. By having gravel, water is able go in to the ground keeping our impact on natural streams and wetlands at a minimum

Gravel parking lots can be found in neighborhoods such as The Ion and Old Village in Mount Pleasant as well as Centex’s communities Shell Ring and Carolina Bay. In addition to the earth friendly features, the traffic pattern design keeps vehicular speeds at a minimum for the safety of our homeowners and their children, as well as greatly reducing any dust associated with a gravel road.

Land Clearing

***Clearing has begun for the 2nd phase of Sweetwater and clearing is almost complete in Tidal Creek. Tidal Creek is the section next to Salt Pointe. This is going to be a new product of all 2 story homes that we are very excited about! Check back for additional information. These are proposed to begin selling late June/beginning of July.

http://www.charleston.net/news/2008/may/16/shovels_turned_cane_bay_elementary_schoo41088/

"Cane Bay Elementary School is scheduled to open in August 2009 with 700 students in kindergarten through fifth grade. It's pegged at $19.8 million for 98,000 square feet.

Cane Bay High School is scheduled to open in August with 700 to 800 ninth- and 10th-graders. Enrollment will expand a grade level per year to 1,500 students, with the possibility of expansion. The school cost about $70 million for 365,000 square feet.

A middle school is also being designed on the site, although no money has been allocated. Cane Bay developer Ben Gramling III donated about 150 acres for the three schools. "

Movie theater, bowling alley to be built near growing Goose Creek

http://archives.postandcourier.com/archive/arch08/0408/arc04196134671.shtml

"With thousands of new homes planned in and around the city of Goose Creek, it was just a matter of time before a family-oriented entertainment venue followed.
The time apparently has come.

Catalyst Development this week said it plans to break ground within 90 days on a large entertainment complex anchored by an eight- to 12-screen movie theater and a state-of-the-art bowling center in Cobblestone Village off U.S. Highway 176.

Also, several unidentified restaurants will be part of the commercial project near the booming Carnes Crossroad area.

The North Charleston-based development group hopes to complete its 62,000-square-foot complex by early next year, said Wes Tuttle, one of Catalyst's owners. "
